csma logo The Farnborough group organises events in the North Hants / SW Surrey area for members of the Civil Service Motoring Association, their families and friends. These activities include a monthly club night, some motor sport and other social activities.
These pages are intended to keep you informed of what's going on so you can plan your visits to our meetings and other events.

Farnborough Group Clubnights take place at St Marks’ Hall, Guildford Road East, Farnborough - from 8pm.

Please note; during the summer, different venues may be used, see the notices below, and in the program listed elsewhere on the site for these events.

Farnborough Group AGM and Skittles - This meeting was held at the Jolly Farmer, Blacknest. The reports by the Group's officers of the past year are available - see link.

This formal part of the evening was sandwiched between skittles action that went on until almost 11pm. A pleasant supper was provided that set us up for the second session of skittles!

24th July The Boat Trip!
 This year’s voyage will be from Caversham to Mapledurham where we land to explore the house and watermill. Teas available
16th September A Group lunch at the New Inn, Heckfield
17th October

Topographia Rally  The Topographia Rally is on Sunday October 17th on OS map 174 (Newbury area) starting at Thatcham Garden Centre on the A4 from 10.05 ending at the nearby Berkshire Arms on the A4 at Midgham.
The Topo is based on largely on photographs from road signs to other features on the map. The questions are graded so there is something to keep everyone occupied. Always a popular event so if you have never tried, why not give it a try. Entry costs £10.

Lunchtime Skittles  Dave has booked our lunchtime skittles at The Jolly Miller, North Warnborough (on B3349) near Odiham Hants RG29 1ET on Thursday October 21st.
The booking is from midday (12.00) to 3pm. A buffet of chicken, sausage, chips, salad and french bread and butter will be served. The price per head is £6.50.

Hants and Berks Motor Club has a full programme of events to which csma Farnborough Group are invited.

Sources of Group news Dates and topics for future club nights and other activities, when known, are listed in the program page. The details will be converted into entries on this page as and when I can glean them from the committee minutes, the Filter, from the organiser (hint!) or even perhaps "Motoring & Leisure".

Our quarterly newsletter, the Filter, is published electronically as an email attachment. Please contact the editor Ian to register or update your email address.

Wanted

1) Reports of club/group events, etc., in fact anything that you think would be of interest to our readership should be in these pages. If you want to have your say here, please let me have your 'content', either by hand, post or electronically - photos, text and sketches can be scanned and returned.  Ian Moir, the editor, would, I'm sure, appreciate such reports for the Farnborough Filter as well.

2) Ideas - if you have any ideas for possible activities, not necessarily motor sport oriented, please contact any member of the committee.
Even better - how about volunteering to organise something yourself; a different club night or an outing. Any ideas you may have are welcome, but please don't start any serious preparatory work before seeking the advice of a committee member.
